About Us

Derek is a seasoned leader with over 30 years of experience in both public and private sectors, specialising in strategic policy development, senior business leadership roles, stakeholder engagement and politics. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, Derek began his professional political career in the Ontario Government, where he held various political advisory roles.

From 1995-2003, he made significant contributions in multiple Minister’s Offices, including Treasury Board, Solicitor General, and Consumer and Corporate Relations, focusing on critical policy initiatives, issues management, and fostering stakeholder relationships.

Transitioning to the private sector after a decade at Queen’s Park, Derek excelled in the brand-name pharmaceutical industry, leading key senior corporate functions such as Market Access, Sales & Marketing, Corporate Affairs, and Corporate Communications & Public Relations with the German pharma giant Boehringer Ingelheim. His expertise has been invaluable in overseeing commercial and public affairs for numerous organisations including the brand name pharmaceutical industry association in Ontario as the Director of Government Affairs.

From 2018-2024, Derek was a Senior Political Advisor in the Ontario Premier’s Office spending considerable time at the request of the Premier, embedded inside of Minister’s Offices to teach them how to better achieve their objectives: restructuring; policy; communications and politics. Derek culminated his role in the Premier’s Office as Executive Director of Caucus Relations, where he managed the political affairs of the entire Government Caucus.
